About this course
You start in the MongoDB shell with an empty database and finish with a Node.js application that reads and writes real data. Along the way you build ServiceHub, a home services marketplace, one collection at a time: documents, queries, updates, data modelling, indexes, and aggregation. Every topic that has a SQL equivalent is shown next to that equivalent, so you always know what you already knew and what is genuinely new.
| Level | Beginner |
|---|---|
| Experience needed | Basic JavaScript, and the ability to run commands in a terminal. No database experience is assumed. SQL knowledge is helpful but never required. |
| Reading time | 15h 50m, at your own pace |
| Lessons | 42 across 11 modules |
| Source code | Downloadable with 4 chapters |
| You finish able to | Design, query, update, index, and aggregate a real MongoDB database, explain when a document store beats a relational one, and connect it all to a Node.js application. |
- SQL side by side with MongoDB in every applicable chapter
- Starts in the shell, so the database is never hidden behind a library

- A figure in every teaching chapter
- Interview questions and answers throughout
